Lincoln Park Zoo

By Nia C.

The whole third grade went on a field trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo. A few students answered interview questions. Jackson and Nayada from Ms. Anderson’s class, said that they went to the Lincoln Park Zoo because the third grade wanted to know about plants and animals in the zoo. In Ms. Ndiaye’s class, Katherine and Sam told me that their favorite activity was the class picture that they took with eagles and when they saw polar bears diving in water. Momoka and Ellis from Ms. Turi’s class, thought that an interesting fact that they learned was how polar bears could swim and eat fish. Some of these students also rated the field trip on a scale from 1-10. Jackson and Nayada gave a 7 because they said the trip was fun and interesting. Sam rated it 9 and Katherine a 7. These third graders certainly seemed like they had fun and they learned a lot on their trip.

Charolette's Web

By Evelyn P.

The 3rd graders were reading a book called Charlotte’s Web. The book is about a little girl named Fern who saved a little pig from being killed by her father, all because he was the runt of the litter. The students all said that they really liked the book and would want to see the movie. Just in luck the 3rd got to see the movie. After the movie the they made Venn Diagrams to compare and contrast the book and the movie. These are some things the 3rd graders said on their Venn Diagrams. Fern has red hair in the book but not in movie. Wilber does not die in either; Charlotte the spider dies in both.

The Spelling Bee

By Nia C.

As you probably know the third graders had their preliminary and final rounds for The Spelling Bee. Excellent job to everyone who participated in The Spelling Bee and to Devika T. who won the final round of The Spelling Bee. There were 25 students who were in the preliminary round of the spelling bee and 10 students who made it to the finals. I could tell that those awesome and nervous spellers put a lot of effort into their words. The Spelling Bee was a great success. So again, great job spellers and congratulations to Devika!
